Established in 1958, ROSTRUM CLUB 9 has long been a leader in helping people build and develop skills in Communication and leadership.
The formula is simple: LEARN - PRACTICE - ENJOY.
As well as as building confidence in public speaking, members also have the opportunity to take part in the ROSTRUM SPEAKER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION. Our members have enjoyed many successes in this event.
There is also the opportunity to encourage young people by assisting in the running of ROSTRUM VOICE OF YOUTH.
What can you expect from Rostrum Club 9?
C9-1C9-2A mix of new and experienced members, varying in age and gender.
A wide variety of speaking opportunities designed to support you in developing public speaking and presentation skills.
You will not be required to perform tasks every week, but you will be required to undertake the following exercises:
Chairing (running) the meetings.
Performing the welcome to members and guests.
Performing a "Table Topic" - speaking for two minutes on a "hot" topic.
Performing a speech on a set topic. Your first speech is "About Me" followed by a question time so that we get to know you.
Performing an impromptu speech, typically of three minutes - usually at short notice! But you may have to wait a while for this!!
At the end of the meeting,our CLUB CRITIC provides useful and constructive feedback, designed to help improve your presentation or chairmanship skills.
It goes without saying that we enjoy ourselves and each other. The Cub has a friendly and humorous character.
